Dept. binder notes:..composed of five pieces sewn together to show the large brocaded artichoke/pomegranate motif in a cricular, organic design. It is typical of Renaissance fabrics with red cut pile brocaded in gold metallic thread. The silk velvet has red and yellow yarns in the ground..The gold brocade is a beautifully executed design, despite the piecing. In parts of the velvet not too worn it looks like the pile is both cut and uncut, a cisele design appearing in areas.(VB)
