Jean Neder: This high relief lace of stylized flower design has solid areas of needlework fillings of various designs. The brides are finely worked snow flake design of differing degrees of complexity. The engrelure is bobbin made lace in the "wheat ear" design. The lower edge is scalloped and looped, using buttonhole stitches. Flowers are carnation, tulips, iris, with high relief added by a heavy cordonnet, buttonhole stitched and worked with many picoted edgings. Stains, but no noticeable wear on the high relief areas. This lace may have been made in Burano, according to the original tag.
