Gift of Mrs. D.L. Wemple

Jean Neder: FInely worked toile of stylized scrolled flowers and leaves. Design has few brides, without picots. A variety of filling stitches used, all outlines are closely buttonhole stitched over several threads forming a flat cordonnet. Lower, straight edge, closely worked in buttonhole stitches, with picots. Engrelure or heading has been sewn on at a later date, and is made by plaiting. One end is cut off, the opposite end is finished around the design. One end is soiled as if it had been rubbed over a dusty surface.
