Painted scene after Dante Gabriel Rossetti, illustrating part of the Vita Nuova. Small cartouches surround the main subject with putti, flowers and views of Venice. On the reverse, painted landscape is adapted from Claude Lorrain. The blades are bound by a gilded ribbon and held together with a rivet inset with red paste. Source: Bennett, Anna G.
