Museum collection

A square of cream colored silk satin, embroidered with silk and gold colored metallic thread; edged on all sides with gold colored metallic fringe with a gold silk tassel at each corner. In each of the four corners is a large "tugra," the stylized signature of a sultan, probably the sultan reigning at the time the object was made. Above each tugra is the star and crescent, another Turkish symbol, and between each of these and the center is an additional small, repeating name or title. Striped lining.
