Exhibition History:

Ikat: Splendid Silks of Central Asia, DY 1997

"The large scale motifs of this ikat wall hanging are designs popularly called peacock tails. This peacock crown becomes widespread motif in the latter half of the 19th century, although the rich colors, elegant scale and sharp, very detailed pattern elements of these ikat panels indicate a mid-19th century dating. This wall hanging has exceptionally powerful and well-balanced design, and is one of the finest of this type of ikats known."--
