Bequest of Thomas G. Fowler

Container carved to resemble a bentwood or kerfed box. The sides are slightly angled in and the bottom is a separate piece of wood. I suspect there was a lid at one time, now missing. Perhaps this was once a container for fungus ash or tobacco although when collected it contained shards of obsidian.
