This chalice veil was acquired with nine-piece liturgical set 2004.9.1.1-9 .1. Like the set, it dates to the reign of Louis XIV but is clearly of different manufacture. According to the family who were in possession of the vestments from at least the time of the French Revolution until they were acquired at auction by FAMSF, the chalice cover was used with the vestments, the original cover having disappeared when, they say, the vestments were removed from
