She opened her design business there in 1953.Introduced and popularized innovative sportswear for women in America, including the poncho, tabards and kimono coats. Launched the Women's Division for Coach (1962 -1975) and applied leather and hardware to subsequent designs. Paper designs in 1967. Founded the non-profit Design Fund with Buckminster Fuller to fund design prototypes.
